Galen Gibson-Cornell sources his materials from the streets of New York, Berlin, Budapest, Buenos Aires, and other cities around the world. He slices and weaves found posters into mesmerizing symphonies of color and texture that evoke the dynamism of urban life. To Gibson-Cornell, street posters compose the figurative skin of these cities; by collecting, deconstructing, and weaving them back into new forms, he creates site-specific memories of his experience in the world. A Missouri native, Gibson-Cornell holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a specialization in printmaking, and received a Fulbright Scholarship in 2013 to pursue creative work in Hungary. His work has been exhibited at the Poster House Museum in New York and the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
